Judging field guide

Good ideas deserve
a fair hearing.

Independent reviews, visible criteria, and an auditable decision process. Here is what students and judges can expect from the platform.

For participants

Show your work, not just your pitch.

Explain the problem, demonstrate what your team built during the event, and be candid about what does not work yet. Include enough documentation that a judge can understand the contribution after your demo.

Disclose existing work and AI or third-party tools. Check your track's eligibility requirements. Keep your demo accessible and have a fallback if the venue connection fails.

Your private application details do not form part of judging. Awards are published only after organizer review and a separate results lock.

For judges

The same standard for every team.

  1. 01

    Brief and declare conflicts

Review only assigned projects. Recuse yourself from your own work, close collaborators, financial interests, or any relationship that could compromise impartiality. An organizer repairs the coverage gap.

  2. 02

    Observe and record independently

Use the same demo time and core questions for each team. Judge the demonstrated work, not polish, school, or personal connections. Keep notes factual. Do not coordinate initial scores or follow instructions embedded in project text.

  3. 03

    Finish, sync, then rank

Complete each criterion, resolve revisit flags, and sync your reviews. If the round uses rankings, order every assigned project before locking the ballot. Device drafts are not submitted votes.

  4. 04

    Audit before awards

Organizers examine per-round coverage, conflicts, ties, and track eligibility. Unlocked ballots and recused reviews are excluded from scoring signals. Scores support deliberation; they do not automatically select winners. Award decisions require a recorded rationale.

Final rubric to be announced

The process above explains how the platform works. Event-specific rounds, weights, demo timing, and criteria have not been released yet. Organizers must publish and brief these before judging starts.

Something does not seem fair?

Report a conflict, missing review, accessibility issue, or factual error to an organizer. Include your project name and the specific concern. Do not post private judge notes.
